### Study Overview
This study describes the genetic diversity and spatiotemporal distribution of SARS-CoV-2 variants circulating in Guinea during the COVID-19 pandemic using publicly available viral genome sequences collected between March 2020 and December 2023.
### Key Findings
- A total of 1,038 SARS-CoV-2 genomes generated in Guinea were analyzed.
- 73.1% of sequences corresponded to Variants of Concern (VOCs), including:
- Omicron (69.4%)
- Delta (21.9%)
- Alpha (6.6%)
- Eta (2.1%)
- Phylogeographic analysis identified 75 viral importation events into Guinea:
- 40% from Africa
- 25.3% from Europe
- 18.6% from Asia
### Impact
The findings highlight the importance of large-scale genomic surveillance to better understand viral evolution, variant dissemination, and cross-border transmission dynamics in West Africa.
