# Mwene-translate: Sabiny Translation Collection Project ## Overview This project aims to create a dataset of English-to-Sabiny translations to support the development of a machine learning model for translating English into Sabiny. Since Sabiny has limited digital resources, this community-driven approach will help document and preserve the language while enabling future applications in language technology. ## Table of Contents - Project Overview - Goals - Data Collection - How to Contribute - Technical Setup - Contact ## Goals - To build a parallel corpus of English-Sabiny translations. - To develop a machine learning model that can accurately translate English sentences into Sabiny. - To preserve and digitally document the Sabiny language for future generations. ## Data Collection ### Requirements - **Languages**: English (source language) and Sabiny (target language). - **Format**: Each entry consists of an English sentence, the Sabiny translation, optional pronunciation notes, and any additional comments. ### Structure The dataset will have the following format: | **English Sentence** | **Sabiny Translation** | **Pronunciation Notes** | |----------------------|------------------------|-------------------------| | "How are you?" | "Chemune?" | che mu neh | | "Thank you." | "Keitapoon." | Kei ta poon | ### Submission Tool To streamline data collection, we are using a Google Form where contributors can enter translations directly.
