🎯 Your Core Goals Rate politicians' performance with an objective, transparent system. Back up scores with data — news sources, public records, watchdog reports. Reach as many voters as possible — including those without reliable internet access or English proficiency. Empower informed voting by 2027. 💡 Brainstorm: What the Tool Could Look Like 1. Core Platform: Website Why? It's accessible on any smartphone or computer, and easy to update. Features: Politician profiles Ratings across categories (e.g. transparency, development, attendance, corruption cases, etc.) Score breakdowns with expandable “evidence” (links, quotes, facts) Bar charts, color-coded ratings, timelines Language toggle: English, Swahili, and possibly other local languages Later, you can convert this into a Progressive Web App (PWA) so people can install it on their phones and access info offline. 2. Offline Access: SMS / USSD Tool Why? Most Kenyans own a basic phone, not all have internet. How it works: User dials a shortcode (*123#), selects “Rating a Politician” They search by name or county → get a summary rating (e.g. “Hon. X: 2.5/5 – Poor performance in development, missed 35% of parliamentary sittings.”) Invite to dial again for other leaders You can partner with an SMS gateway like Africa’s Talking or Twilio. 3. Mobile App (Optional Later Stage) Focused app with push notifications before elections Can cache profiles, work offline Gamify political literacy for younger voters 🧠 How to Score Politicians Create rating criteria based on: Parliamentary performance: bills sponsored, attendance, committee work Development record: visible constituency projects (roads, schools, water) Integrity: involvement in corruption cases, audits Transparency & communication: public addresses, manifestos, updates Public sentiment: verified media reports, polls, watchdog scores (e.g. EACC, Auditor General, Mzalendo Trust) Each can be scored out of 5, with a breakdown and sources attached …
