Computational analysis of malaria incidence trends across 54 African countries (2007–2017) using Python, Pandas, and Seaborn. # malaria-africa-analysis Computational analysis of malaria incidence trends across 54 African countries (2007–2017) using Python, Pandas, and Seaborn. **Figure 1: Average Malaria Incidence Across 54 African Countries (2007–2017)** Continental average incidence declined from approximately 210 to 176 per 1,000 population at risk — a 16% reduction over the decade. A notable plateau and brief reversal occurred between 2014 and 2016, temporally consistent with Ebola outbreak disruptions to regional health systems. **Figure 2: Top 10 African Countries by Average Malaria Incidence (2007–2017)** Burkina Faso recorded the highest average incidence across the decade. Nigeria ranked among the highest burden countries, with a mean incidence of approximately 350 per 1,000 — nearly double the continental average throughout the period. **Figure 3: Insecticide-Treated Bed Net Coverage vs Malaria Incidence** Analysis of 132 country-year combinations with complete data showed a near-zero correlation (r = 0.010) between bed net coverage and incidence. This finding is considered unreliable due to 77.8% missing data and likely reflects reporting bias rather than a genuine absence of effect. **Figure 4: Nigeria vs African Continental Average — Malaria Incidence (2007–2017)** Nigeria's incidence remained consistently and substantially above the continental average throughout the entire period. Both trajectories show general decline, but Nigeria's burden remained approximately double the continental mean — underscoring the need for Nigeria-specific research and intervention strategies. **Figure 5: Malaria Incidence by Country and Year** Individual country trajectories reveal substantial heterogeneity beneath the continental average. Gambia showed the most dramatic improvement over the decade. Rwanda showed a striking reversal — incidence increased sharply in 2016–2017 after years of progress, consistent with documented insecticide resistance resurgence. Liberia showed deterioratio …
