The objective was to explore the main business constraints faced by firms in Kenya, compare firm performance across sectors, and identify insights that may be relevant to investors. ## Tool Used - Microsoft Power BI ## Analysis Approach The analysis was conducted entirely in Power BI. The dataset was prepared and analysed using Power Query and Power BI's data modelling and visualization features. The dashboard includes: - Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) - Business obstacle analysis - Average severity of business constraints - Biggest obstacles reported by firms - Three-year sales growth by sector - Sector and firm-size slicers - Interactive dashboard filtering - Investor-focused insights ## Key Findings - 68.46% of surveyed firms rated tax rates as a major or severe obstacle. - Tax rates recorded the highest average severity among the business obstacles analysed. - Smaller firms reported greater access-to-finance constraints than larger firms. - The analysis also shows differences in three-year sales growth across sectors. - Digital payment adoption indicates increasing use of digital transactions among firms. ## Investor Implications The findings suggest that Kenya presents opportunities for investors, but tax and regulatory constraints remain important considerations. The financing gap among smaller firms may also present opportunities for financial services and alternative financing solutions.
