# Educational gradients in current modern contraceptive use among women in union in Malawi
### A nationally representative survey-weighted analysis of the 2024 Demographic and Health Survey
This repository contains the reproducible analytic workflow, figures, tables, and manuscript materials for a survey-weighted epidemiologic study of educational gradients in **current modern contraceptive use** among **women in union in Malawi** using the **2024 Malawi Demographic and Health Survey (MDHS)**.
## Study aim
To quantify the association between women’s educational attainment and current modern contraceptive use among women aged 15–49 years who were married or living with a partner in Malawi, using nationally representative DHS microdata and design-based statistical inference.
## Data source
This study uses de-identified data from the **2024 Malawi Demographic and Health Survey (MDHS)**, accessed through **The DHS Program** under approved data-use terms. Users must obtain data access directly from the DHS Program before reproducing the analysis.
## Methods overview
The analysis uses:
- DHS Individual Recode (IR) data
- survey weights, clustering, and stratification
- weighted descriptive estimates
- adjusted prevalence-ratio models
- marginal standardisation for adjusted prevalence estimates
- equity-focused epidemiologic interpretation
