Zero-Dose children are those who have not received essential routine vaccines, and identifying them is crucial for reaching underserved populations and improving immunization equity. The dashboard uses two official definitions of Zero-Dose used globally: GAVI and WHO. ## Zero-Dose Definitions Used in the Dashboard** ### 1. GAVI Definition Under the GAVI Zero-Dose definition, a child is considered Zero-Dose if they: - Did not receive DTP1 (the first dose of the diphtheria–tetanus–pertussis vaccine). This definition is: - Simple and widely adopted - Used for global monitoring and investment strategies - Directly comparable across countries and surveys - Commonly applied in coverage and equity studies In the dashboard: *Filters, maps, and charts using the GAVI definition focus on DTP1 non-receipt.* ### 2. WHO Definition The WHO Zero-Dose definition is broader and identifies a child as Zero-Dose if they: - Did not receive any routine vaccine in the national immunization schedule by 12–23 months or 24–35 months Examples of “any routine vaccine” include: * BCG * OPV1 * DTP1 * HepB birth dose * Measles 1 This definition: Captures deeper levels of missed vaccination - Helps identify children completely outside the immunization system - Is especially useful for subnational strategy and micro-planning **In the dashboard**: *Filters or indicators using the WHO definition reflect complete absence of all routine vaccines.* ### Live Dashboard Access the dashboard here: 👉 zerodose-moz.vercel.app
