A Machine Learning Project and EDA of Rainfall Predictors in Kenya over 10 years. ## 1. Introduction ### 1.1 Background Drought is a natural, weather-related disaster that occurs gradually over a prolonged period of little or no rainfall in a particular region. This leads to scarcity of water and food, especially in areas whose main sources of water such as rivers or lakes are rain-refilled. Drought stands as one of the major impediments to the success of the implementation of the SDGs in Kenya. This paper seeks to investigate the weather patterns in Kenya over 10 years between 2013 and 2023. This includes both the humidity and rainfall patterns within the period in order to determine patterns of a meteorological drought. The end goal of this study is to analyze gendered differences in the adaptation of the drought mitigation measures in Kenya. ### 1.2 Research Problem There are different categorizations of drought by impact. These are: - **Meteorological Drought** – effect on the moisture levels. - **Hydrological Drought** – effect on water reserves. - **Ecological Drought** – effect on the natural ecosystem. - **Socioeconomic Drought** – effect on the social and economic behavior of individuals and communities. In this notebook, we aim to investigate the **meteorological aspects** in order to determine the absence, presence, or severity of a drought. ## 2. Methodology, Results, and Discussions ### 2.1 Data Description #### Table: Description of the Data Variables | Feature Name | Variable Description | Measure | |--------------------|----------------------------------------|------------| | name | Country | Kenya | | datetime | Date | Date | | tempmax | Maximum Temperature | Celsius | | tempmin | Minimum Temperature | Celsius | | temp | Mean Temperature | Celsius | | feelslikemax | High Temperature Fe …
