Ghana Health Service Birth Notification companion Android app — APK downloads for UAT and pilot testing # Birth Notification — Android Companion App Compiled APK distribution for the Ghana Health Service (GHS) Birth Notification Companion App. This repository hosts downloadable release builds for User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and pilot deployment. ## What this app does Android companion app for CHPS midwives and Community Health Officers (CHOs) that streamlines the birth notification workflow: 1. Capture birth notification details from Capture (DHIS2 Android) 2. Submit to the Births & Deaths Registry (BDR) — receive a birth certificate number when the record is certified 3. Capture mother and newborn photos with real-time face-quality gates 4. Submit to the National Identification Authority (NIA) — receive a National ID (`babyPin`) once liveness and 1:1 face-match against the mother's Ghana Card template succeed 5. SMS the informant on each milestone (certificate issued, National ID issued) Co-implemented with the Births & Deaths Registry (BDR) and the National Identification Authority (NIA). ## Download See the Releases page. Each release ships three APKs: - **`arm64-v8a`** — for modern 64-bit ARM tablets (recommended: Samsung Tab A-series 2019 onwards, most CHPS-deployed hardware). Smallest. - **`armeabi-v7a`** — for older 32-bit ARM tablets. Smaller than universal but only works on 32-bit devices. - **`universal`** — contains all ABIs in one file. Use this if you're unsure of the device architecture. Larger download. If uncertain, download the **universal** APK — it installs on any ARM device. ## Installation 1. Download the APK to the tablet (browser, USB transfer, or `adb push`). 2. On the tablet, open the file — Android will prompt to install from an unknown source. Accept. 3. Launch **Birth Notification** from the app drawer. ## Compatibility - **Android 8.0 (API 26) or later.** - Requires camera, network (Wi-Fi or mobile data), and ~50 MB of storage. ## Source code Source lives in the internal HISP Ghana workspace.
