Project Overview & Mission Context ### Problem Statement Space exploration and satellite operations depend on continuous, reliable Space Situational Awareness (SSA) — the ability to track orbital objects, forecast close approaches, and issue timely collision-avoidance guidance. This capability is currently concentrated in the US (Space Fence, Space-Track.org), Europe (ESA SSA Programme), and Russia. Meanwhile, the **African Union Space Policy (2016)** and subsequent national strategies from South Africa (SANSA), Nigeria (NASRDA), Kenya (KSA), Ethiopia (ESSA), Egypt (EGSA), and others have catalysed a surge in African satellite programmes — Earth observation constellations, communications payloads, and more. These agencies currently depend almost entirely on foreign SSA data sources, with limited autonomy over alert thresholds, data-access windows, and threat prioritisation relevant to their own orbital regimes and ground infrastructure. High-quality SSA tooling also typically assumes GPU-class hardware and constant connectivity — both of which are frequently unavailable in the regions that most need this capability. ### Solution Description OrbitGuard AI is a **fully self-hostable, low-resource SSA platform** that gives regional operators independent …
