Power BI dashboard visualizing water access and gender inequality in Maji Ndogo # Maji Ndogo Water Visualization An interactive Power BI dashboard visualizing water access and gender inequality in Maji Ndogo, built from survey data on water sources, queue times, and crime records linked to water collection points. ## Overview This project turns raw survey and crime data into visual insights to help stakeholders, including local and national government, understand and act on the water access crisis in Maji Ndogo. ## Key Findings - **69% of Maji Ndogo's population lives in rural areas**, compared to 31% urban. - **Shared taps are the dominant water source**, used by more people than wells, home taps, or rivers combined. - **Amanzi has the most broken water infrastructure**, followed by Kilimani — priority areas for repair. - **Saturdays have by far the longest queue times**, with queues staying high throughout the day, while weekday queues dip during work hours. - **Women queue for water significantly more than men on weekdays**, but men take on more of the responsibility on weekends. - **Crime peaks on Fridays, not Saturdays** — despite Saturday having the longest queues, showing queue length alone doesn't explain crime patterns. Kilimani and Akatsi have the highest crime counts, and Amanzi is the only province where male victims outnumber female victims. ## Recommendations - Prioritize infrastructure repair in Amanzi and Kilimani. - Investigate the drivers of Friday's crime spike specifically, rather than assuming it's linked to queue length. - Consider safety interventions for women and children traveling to and from water points, particularly during peak collection times. ## Dashboard Pages ### National Overview ### Broken Infrastructure Map ### Queue Times ### Crime and Water ## Tools Used - Power BI Desktop
