# Carbon Markets in Africa — Data & Analyses
This repository contains data and analyses on carbon markets in Africa. It visualizes **tele-coupling between global carbon emitters and African host nations** through carbon credit investment flows — mapping how developed countries (US, UK, China, EU, etc.) finance carbon offset projects across the continent, and how those projects affect local landscapes. This phenomenon is often referred to as **"carbon grabbing."**

## Data Source
All carbon project data comes from **CarbonPlan's OffsetsDB**, which harmonizes registry data from **Verra (Verified Carbon Standard — VCS)**, the world's largest carbon offset registry.
