## Prerequisites
- Python 3.8 or higher
- Node.js 16 or higher
- MongoDB (local or remote)
- Africa's Talking API credentials (username and API key)
## Setup Instructions
1. **Clone the repository**

## Backend Setup ⚠️ **CRITICAL: Backend Must Run Separately**
**Important**: Lovable only runs the frontend React app. You must run the Python Flask backend separately on your local machine or deploy it to a cloud service.
1. **Get Africa's Talking API Credentials First**
Before setting up the backend, you **MUST** register for Africa's Talking:
- Go to
africastalking.com
- Click "Sign Up" and create a free account
- Verify your email and complete account setup
- Login to your dashboard to get your credentials:
- **Username**: Usually your email or a generated username
- **API Key**: Found in the "API" section of your dashboard
- **Add credits**: Purchase SMS credits to send messages (required for production)
2. **Install Python dependencies**
