Here is my recent work on Malaria Risk, Trends, and Outbreaks Across Africa. The tools used are Excel, MySQL, for data cleaning and querying, PowerBI for the visualization and Python for predictions. We built an interactive dashboard to visualize the geographic burden, socioeconomic drivers, and future projections of malaria incidence in Africa.
Key Findings & Conclusions:
1. The Rising Burden: The data shows a concerning upward trend in Estimated Malaria Cases across Africa, rising from 240 Million in 2016 to over 282 Million recently.
2. Nigeria & DRC are Epicenters: Nigeria accounts for over 53% of the highest malaria burden in the dataset, followed closely by the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) with over 274 million estimated cases.
3. The "Health Investment" Factor: A crucial finding from the Correlation Matrix is the negative correlation (-0.43) between Health Expenditure per Capita and Malaria Incidence. This suggests that increased financial investment in healthcare is a significant driver in reducing malaria cases.
4. Environmental Drivers: There is a strong positive correlation (0.74) between Relative Humidity and Average Precipitation, which both correlate with higher malaria incidence. This highlights the need for climate resilient health strategies.
5. Future Projections: The "Current vs. 5-Year Projected Incidence" chart indicates that high-risk countries like Burkina Faso and Benin are projected to see increased incidence by 2028, signaling an urgent need for intervention.
