Term Paper for Lecture Governance and Institutions in Sub-Saharan Africa (2022) This project identifies and analyses the trends of autocratization and democratization episodes acoss Afica from 2000 to 2020, using V-Dem's Electoral Democracy Index. I find 19 autocratization episodes in 17 countries and 33 democratization episodes in 27 countries, with autocratization episodes becoming more prevalent towards the end of the timespan.
