# Automated Detection of Somali Animal Species
A Flask-based web application that uses YOLOv8 to detect and classify Somali animal species from images and webcam feeds.
## Features
- **Image Upload:** Upload an image to detect species such as Cape Buffalo, Savanna Elephant, African Lion, Bengal Tiger, and Plains Zebra.
- **Webcam Detection:** Real-time species detection using a webcam feed.

## Installation
1. Clone the repository.
2. Install the required dependencies:
```bash
pip install -r requirements.txt
```
3. Run the application:
```bash
python app.py
```
## Note on Model Weights
Due to file size limits, the `yolov8m.pt` model weights file and the `dataset` folder are not included in this repository. Ensure you place the necessary YOLOv8 `.pt` files in the correct directory before running.
