Four-phase open-data civic-tech platform tackling Nigeria's security crisis: live dashboard, offline PWA, SMS/USSD alerts, and a safety-first community reporting API. Built on ACLED/GDELT open data.
# Nigeria Security Platform
**Open-data civic technology tackling Nigeria's security crisis — across four phases.**
Live site: **
mosesdex.github.io
This repository turns freely available conflict data into tools a Nigerian citizen, journalist, or responder can actually use. It is grounded in a fact-checked research report on Nigeria's security crisis (2024–2026) and built **entirely on open sources** — no login, paywall, CAPTCHA, or access control was bypassed to produce any of it.

## The four phases
| Phase | What | Channel | Status | Path |
|------|------|---------|--------|------|
| **1** | Public-data dashboard — state/LGA choropleth, zone & hotspot rankings, national trend, live news signal | Web | **Live** (static) | `/web-dashboard` |
| **2** | Offline-first mobile app — cached alerts, your-area risk, LGA lookup, safety info | Mobile PWA | **Live** (static) | `/mobile-pwa` |
| **3** | SMS / USSD alert service for the rural north | Node service | Runnable (mock mode) | `/sms-service` |
| **4** | Community incident-reporting API with human moderation | Node service | Runnable | `/reporting-api` |
The **web app** (`webapp/server.js`) unifies all of the above into one Express server — it serves the entire frontend and mounts the reporting + SMS services as live APIs, so the community-reporting feature works in the browser end-to-end. Plus the interactive research report the whole thing is grounded in.
```bash
cd webapp && npm install && npm start # →
localhost (full app, live reporting)
```
Phases are ordered by **legal surface and difficulty**: the dashboard ships first (no user data at all); community reporting comes last, because doing it safely is the hardest part.
