TrashBeta is a civic-tech, community-first waste reporting and coordination platform designed to close Nigeria’s waste “Silence Gap” — the recurring situation where citizens report environmental hazards yet receive no acknowledgement, no tracking, and no proof of action.
The TrashBeta Story
TrashBeta began with a normalized reality across many Nigerian communities: waste piles growing for weeks, bins overflowing for days, drainage channels blocked until flooding forces attention, and residents repeating the same cycle — complain, wait, and move on. The breakdown is not that people do not report; it is that reporting is fragmented, untracked, and rarely generates feedback.
Existing channels — physical visits to local government offices, phone calls to Private Sector Participants (PSPs), social media tagging, or community leader escalation — create a fractured information layer. Authorities lack a single source of truth. Citizens lack visibility on progress. Service providers lack objective performance benchmarking. This is the Silence Gap: the gap between citizen voice and institutional action.
TrashBeta was designed as the missing feedback loop: a unified platform that captures reports with location context, assigns tracking IDs, supports role-based workflows for execution and oversight, and produces dashboards that answer operational questions — where is the problem, how severe is it, how long has it persisted, and what should be done next.
