Admission Eligibility Checker for Universities in Nigeria
**WHAT IS AN ADMISSION ELIGIBILITY CHECKER?**
I’m developing a handy tool designed specifically for Nigerian students after UTME. If you’ve ever asked questions like,
“What is this school’s cut-off mark?” or “What O’Level subjects do I need?” or
“What are my chances of gaining admission into this school for my chosen course?”, then this app/website (I’m still deciding which)
is just for you!
Basically, it takes your O’Level grades, your choice of institution and course, as well as your UTME subject combination and percentage score.
Using a complex algorithm based on your school’s current departmental cut-off marks, it estimates your likelihood of
gaining admission—whether by merit or catchment area—and provides additional helpful details.
**WORKFLOW**
The first page is the Welcome Page (subject to future updates). It includes an introduction, terms and conditions, and a dropdown list to select your institution before proceeding to the O’Level input page.
Next, you select your Course of study.
Then, on the O’Level Page, you enter your O’Level subjects and respective grades.
After that, the UTME Page collects your UTME subject scores and subject combination.
The Confirmatory Page displays all the information you’ve entered so far, asking you to review and confirm before proceeding.
Finally, the Analysis Page calculates your admission chances based on the criteria. If your subject combination is ineligible for your chosen course, it will suggest alternative courses where applicable or notify you if none are suitable. If all eligibility criteria are met, it shows your individual O’Level and UTME aggregates compared against your institution’s departmental cut-off mark. (A future update may include the option to enter your Post-UTME score; for now, 83.33% is used.)
