Ghana Integrated Public Accountability Platform (GIPAP): a civic-tech app that helps citizens hold government accountable with open information on ongoing and abandoned public projects, their budgets and real progress, an interactive map, and citizen issue reporting.
# Ghana Integrated Public Accountability Platform (GIPAP)
**GIPAP is a civic-tech platform that helps ordinary Ghanaians hold government accountable by giving them open, easy-to-understand information about public projects across the country — what is being built, where, with how much money, and how far along it really is.**
Citizens can explore every project on an interactive map, see budgets and verified progress, and **report abandoned, stalled, or substandard works** directly to the responsible institutions. Government officers and administrators use the same platform to publish projects, update progress, and triage citizen reports. The goal is simple: turn public spending into something the public can actually see, question, and follow up on.
> Transparency. Accountability. Development.

## Why GIPAP exists
Billions of cedis are committed to national programmes every year, yet citizens rarely have a single, trustworthy place to answer basic questions:
- *What is being built in my district, and who is the contractor?*
- *How much was budgeted, and how much has been spent?*
- *Is this project on schedule — or has it been quietly abandoned?*
- *How do I report a stalled project, a broken streetlight, or unsafe works?*
GIPAP brings all of that into one place and makes it a two-way street: the government shares information, and citizens push information back. That feedback loop is what turns transparency into **accountability**.

## What citizens can do
- **Browse all public projects** with budgets, contractors, timelines, regions, and live progress bars.
- **Explore projects on a map** (Leaflet + OpenStreetMap) to see what is happening near them.
- **Report an issue** — abandoned projects, damaged roads, poor drainage, safety hazards, suspected misuse — with a category, severity, location, and optional photo.
- **Track their reports** end to end with a tracking ID, and edit or withdraw them.
- **Watch project updates** — official video coverage is …
