Multi-dashboard report on CO₂, methane, and nitrous oxide emission trends in Rwanda and worldwide/ Tableaux de bord sur les tendances d'émissions de CO₂, méthane et protoxyde d'azote au Rwanda et dans le monde 🌍 Lire en Français | 📓 See PDF # Greenhouse gas emissions ## 📊 Project Summary This project analyzes global and country-level CO₂ emissions using data visualization techniques, with a strong focus on Rwanda. The analysis covers the period 2000–2020 and explores trends in carbon emissions, growth rates, population impact, and comparisons with other countries. Key areas explored: - Evolution of CO₂ emissions in Rwanda over time - Year-to-year emission growth and volatility - Relationship between population growth and emissions - Cross-country comparisons based on similar population sizes - CO₂ emissions per capita analysis - Breakdown of greenhouse gases (CO₂, methane, nitrous oxide, fluorinated gases) - Top emitting countries globally (2010–2020) - Industry-level emissions (case study: China) - Emissions by income group - CO₂ embedded in international trade (import/export analysis) ## 💡 Key Insights - Rwanda’s emissions remain relatively low despite population growth, with no clear direct correlation between the two - Emissions peaked around 2019 (~1.19 million tonnes) - High-income countries contribute disproportionately to global emissions - Coal is the dominant source of emissions in major economies like China (~73%) - Global trade plays a major role in redistributing carbon emissions across countries This project demonstrates the use of data visualization to uncover environmental and economic patterns in global CO₂ emissions.
