The purpose of the project is to transform economic data into clear and meaningful visualizations that make trends, patterns, and changes easier to understand. The project uses four economic indicators: - GDP growth (annual %) - Unemployment (% of total labor force) - Population, total - GDP per capita (current US$) ## Objectives The main objectives of this project are to: - Visualize economic trends in Somalia from 2016 to 2025. - Compare GDP growth and unemployment over time. - Show changes in Somalia's population. - Show the trend in GDP per capita. - Compare the percentage change in economic indicators between 2016 and 2025. - Present economic information in a clear and understandable visual format. ## Dataset **Source:** World Bank — World Development Indicators (WDI) **Country:** Somalia **Period:** 2016–2025 **Number of indicators:** 4 The dataset was originally provided in Excel format and was processed using Python before creating the visualizations. ## Tools and Technologies - Python - Pandas - Matplotlib - Seaborn - OpenPyXL - VS Code ## Data Preparation The dataset was cleaned before visualization. The following steps were performed: 1. Loaded the Excel dataset using Pandas. 2. Removed completely empty rows. 3. Removed rows without an indicator name. 4. Selected the four economic indicators. 5. Converted the dataset from wide format to long format. 6. Extracted the years from the original column names. 7. Created a visualization-ready dataset containing 40 observations. The final dataset contains: **4 indicators × 10 years = 40 observations** ## Visualizations ### 1. GDP Growth Trend A line chart was created to show Somalia's GDP growth from 2016 to 2025. The visualization highlights changes in GDP growth over time, including the decline …
