Analysis on historical temperature patterns across various countries in Africa from 1900 to 2013 # Climate change in Africa ## Table of Content - Project Overview - Project Objectives - Data source - Tools - Data cleaning and preparation - Data Analysis - Visualization - Key Insights - Recommendations - Limitations ### Project Overview 📽️ --- This project aims to analyze historical temperature patterns across various regions in Africa from 1900 to 2013. The goal is to uncover long-term trends, regional variations, and seasonal patterns to support data-driven insights for environmental planning, climate awareness, and policy recommendations. ### Project Objectives 1. What is the long-term trend of average temperatures across Africa from 1900 to 2013? 2. How much has the average temperature increased per decade across the African continent? 3. What is the overall average temperature recorded across all selected African countries and cities? 4. Which months consistently record the highest and lowest average temperatures in Africa? 5. Which country in the dataset has the highest average temperature, and which has the lowest? 6. Which African region experiences the warmest temperatures on average? 7. What is the level of uncertainty in the decadal average temperature measurements (confidence intervals)? 8. Are there observable seasonal temperature patterns that repeat across years? ### Data source The dataset used for this project is the "GlobalLandTemperaturesByCity.csv" obtained from kaggle ### Tools Power Bi ### Data cleaning and preparation 1. The `dt` column datatype was changed to date 2. The `dt` column was renamed to date for clarity 3. Removed the `latitude` and `longitude` column 4. Filtered `date` column for records between 1900 to 2013 5. Two dimension tables were created; - DimCity - DimCountry 6. The cleaned dataset was imported into Power Bi, and a relationship was created between the dimension tables and the fact table 7. A calendar date table was created and added to the star schema ### Data Analysis Four (4) DAX measures were created t …
