This repository captures my journey as a young non-programmer building an open-source Civic Education App for Kenya. Aimed at bridging knowledge gaps and empowering citizens, the app makes civic education accessible. I invite developers and donors to collaborate and bring this vision to life.
# Civic Education Kenya App
A comprehensive platform for civic education and legislative tracking in Kenya.
## Setup
1. Clone the repository:
```bash
git clone
github.com
cd civic-education-app
```
2. Install dependencies:
```bash
# Install root dependencies
npm install
# Install frontend dependencies
cd frontend
npm install
# Install backend dependencies
cd ../backend
npm install
```
3. Set up environment variables:
```bash
# Create .env file in the root directory
touch .env
# Add environment variables to .env file
echo "DATABASE_URL=your_database_url" >> .env
echo "OPENAI_API_KEY=your_openai_api_key" >> .env
```
4. Run the development server:
```bash
npm run dev
# or
yarn dev
# or
pnpm dev
# or
bun dev
```
Open
localhost with your browser to see the result.
You can start editing the page by modifying `app/page.tsx`. The page auto-updates as you edit the file.
This project uses `next/font` to automatically optimize and load Geist, a new font family for Vercel.
