# Rural Household Livelihoods in Kenya: A monitoring dashboard on food security,income, and livestock ownership across counties and sublocations
# Background
This project analyzes household level data from 1502 rural households across 3 counties and 23 sublocations in Kenya. It was developed as a Monitoring and Evaluation(M&E) project to understand how food security , income sources, livestock ownership vary geographically.

## Project Goals
1. Describe how food security (HDDS) varies across 3 counties and 23 sublocations.
2. Understand which income sources are most common and how they differ by county.
3. Examine the relationship between livestock ownership and food security.
4. Identify which county and sublocation have the lowest food security and income for targeting purposes.
5. Present findings in an interactive Power BI dashboard accessible to non-technical audiences.

## Theory of Change
If rural households have access to livestock assets,credit and social networks, then they can diversify income sources and increase livestock production, which leads to higher household dietary diveristy and improved security, provided that geographiv conditions across counties are considered and extension services support productive use of assets.
