The repository for the biggest all-girls hackathon in Kenya # Jua Nairobi ☀️ Jua is Hack Club's 16th Athena event and 1st overseas event in Nairobi, Kenya that took place on the 7th and 8th of March, 2025 ### Workshops: #### Web Dev Elizabeth did a workshop on how to make a simple HTML website. She taught the girls how to rebuild a simplified version of the Jua website in Swahili. You can checkout her slides here. #### Create Your Own Adventure Louisa did a workshop to make a simple text-based game in Python where she taught the girls how to make a game themed around their interests in Swahili. Here are her slides. ## Dinner The night before our hackathon, we hosted an incredible dinner at the Atrium - Karen Blixen Coffee Gardens with 15 incredible women in tech, 4 Hack Clubbers, 7 Aspiring Girls in Tech and 2 Hack Club Staff. We got to speak to inspiring figures in tech like Lorna Ogolla, the Partnerships Lead at Google Research Africa, Isis Nyong'o, one of Kenya's first women leaders in tech working at Viacom, Google and founding Malaica, or Kathleen Siminyu, a AI and AI Policy Researcher at The Distributed AI Research Institute!
