The project was developed using **Microsoft Power BI** to transform the data into interactive visualisations and generate insights into the factors influencing CO₂ emissions across African countries. Although Africa contributes a relatively small share of global CO₂ emissions, the continent is highly vulnerable to the effects of climate change. Population growth, urbanisation, industrialisation, increasing energy demand, transportation expansion, and land-use changes all play important roles in shaping emission levels. --- ## Objectives The analysis focuses on five key questions: 1. How have CO₂ emissions in Africa evolved over time? 2. Which country recorded the highest CO₂ emissions? 3. What is the major CO₂-emitting sector? 4. CO₂ Emissions Over Time CO₂ emissions showed a **steady increase from 2000 to 2019**, followed by a slight decline from 2019 to 2020. ### Explanation The steady increase reflects growing: - Economic activity - Industrialisation - Population - Energy demand - Transportation activity The decline in 2020 can largely be associated with the **COVID-19 pandemic**, which disrupted activities across different sectors and reduced economic activity and transportation. ### Recommendation African countries should: - Promote renewable energy. - Invest in energy-efficient technologies. - Encourage sustainable transportation. - Support economic growth while reducing carbon emissions. --- # 2. Major CO₂-Emitting Sector The analysis identified **Land Use, Land-Use Change and Forestry (LUCF)** as a significant contributor to total CO₂ emissions across many African countries. ## …
