Analysis of Nigerian road traffic crash data (2020-2024) using Python, SQL, SQLite, Plotly and Streamlit. # Nigerian Road Traffic Crash Analysis ## Overview This project presents an exploratory data analysis of road traffic crashes in Nigeria using Python. The analysis investigates temporal patterns, geographic differences, casualties, reported crash factors, fatalities, crash severity and the relationships between crashes, injuries and fatalities. The goal is to transform road crash records into interpretable insights that can support road-safety assessment and data-driven decision-making. --- ## Research Questions The project addresses the following questions: 1. What is the overall scale of road crashes in the dataset? 2. Which states record the highest numbers of road crashes? 3. How have road crashes changed over time? 4. What is the human impact of road crashes? 5. Which factors are most commonly associated with reported crashes? 6. Which states record the highest road crash fatalities? 7. Which states experience the greatest crash severity? 8. How have road crash fatalities changed over time? 9. What relationships exist between crashes, injuries and fatalities? 10. How has road crash severity changed over time? --- ## Tools and Technologies - Python - Pandas - NumPy - Matplotlib - Jupyter Notebook - Visual Studio Code - Git - GitHub --- ## Analysis Workflow The project follows the following workflow: 1. Data loading 2. Data inspection 3. Data cleaning and preparation 4. Exploratory data analysis 5. Temporal crash analysis 6. Geographic analysis 7. Casualty analysis 8. Crash-factor analysis 9. Crash-severity analysis 10. Correlation analysis 11. Visualization 12. Interpretation and recommendations --- ## Key Findings ### Road Crash Trends Quarterly crash totals fluctuated during the study period. The highest quarterly crash count in the analyzed data occurred in 2022-Q4. ### Human Impact The dataset recorded: - **127,237 people injured** - **21,031 people killed** This demonstrates the substantial human impact associated with road traffic cr …
