The tool is designed to detect personal data stored in plain text and to help organizations check compliance in advance with data protection requirements. piiscan supports compliance with the Rwanda Personal Data Protection Law (PDPL), including Articles 53, 57, 62, and 63. This tool is developed specifically for Rwanda. Because personal data formats differ by country, partial customization is required for use outside Rwanda. # What Data Does It Find? piiscan detects common types of sensitive personal data in plain text, including: - National ID, passport, and driver’s license numbers - Credit card and bank account numbers - Email addresses, phone numbers, and postal addresses - OAuth tokens, API keys, and access credentials # Where Does It Scan? piiscan supports a wide range of storage systems.
