But when it comes to understanding who owns what, how to get a title deed, or what happens when a neighbour builds on your shamba without permission, most people do not know where to turn. The laws are scattered across multiple Acts of Parliament, written in heavy legal language that the average mwananchi cannot easily understand. Think about it: a widow in Kisumu trying to inherit her late husband's land, a community in Laikipia fighting to protect their ancestral grazing grounds, or a first time buyer in Nairobi wondering if that plot they were offered is legitimate. These are real, everyday situations, and getting the wrong information can cost someone their livelihood. This project builds **Sheria AI**, a chatbot that tackles the problem of land disputes and confusion around land ownership in Kenya. By putting the law in the hands of the people, in clear and simple language, Sheria AI helps Kenyans understand their land rights before small misunderstandings turn into costly legal battles.
