This dataset compiles a balanced panel of annual macroeconomic, social, environmental, and financial indicators for 28 African countries over the period 2000–2023, designed to analyze the impact of green microfinance on vulnerable communities’ access to basic services, particularly drinking water. Data were collected from internationally recognized and publicly available sources, including the World Bank, the African Development Bank, and official national government publications. The selected period captures major structural transformations in Africa related to sustainable development, microfinance expansion, climate change, and economic shocks, including the emergence of green microfinance initiatives, the 2008 global financial crisis, and the post-2015 Paris Climate Agreement era. The dataset includes variables on access to clean water, green microfinance funding, economic development, inequality, poverty, energy transition, labor market conditions, and environmental pressure. To ensure consistency and comparability across countries and over time, all variables were harmonized in terms of measurement units and transformed into natural logarithms where appropriate. The dataset is intended to support empirical research on green finance, sustainable development, climate resilience, and social vulnerability in Africa.
