This paper examines how DevOps has transformed the delivery of digital products in Nigeria, with broader implications for Africa’s growing technology ecosystem. By analyzing the cultural, organizational, and technological shifts introduced by DevOps, the study highlights how Nigerian fintechs, startups, and enterprises are accelerating software development, enhancing security, and improving user experience through continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD). Case studies from Nigeria, as well as comparative insights from Kenya and Rwanda, demonstrate how DevOps practices have enabled faster product rollouts, resilient infrastructure, and improved collaboration between developers and operations teams. The paper further explores the role of cloud-native platforms, containerization, automation, and agile practices in scaling digital services, particularly within the fintech, telecommunications, and e-government sectors. In addition to technical considerations, the research emphasizes the importance of capacity building, cultural transformation, and regional collaboration in sustaining DevOps adoption. It also discusses challenges such as regulatory constraints, skills shortages, and infrastructural limitations that organizations must address to fully realize the benefits of DevOps at scale. Ultimately, the paper argues that DevOps is not merely a set of tools or practices, but a strategic enabler for Africa’s digital transformation. By leveraging DevOps methodologies, Nigeria and its peers can position themselves as leaders in building secure, scalable, and inclusive digital economies.
