ABSTRACT This dissertation, submitted by Nimco Mohamed Hussein for the Master of Procurement and Logistics at Accord University-Somalia, explores the impact of e-procurement systems on organizational performance within Mogadishu. Under the supervision of Dr. Charles Saroufim, the study specifically investigates the relationship between e-procurement implementation and measurable improvements in cost savings, efficiency, transparency, and overall organizational effectiveness. Utilizing a mixed-methods approach, the dissertation combines quantitative data from surveys with qualitative insights from interviews with procurement professionals in Mogadishu. The research focuses on various aspects of e-procurement, including its ability to streamline procurement processes, enhance transparency, and reduce costs. The findings indicate that e-procurement significantly contributes to organizational performance by optimizing procurement operations and reducing procurement cycle times. The study highlights that despite the potential benefits, the adoption of e-procurement in Mogadishu faces challenges such as inadequate technological infrastructure, resistance to change among staff, and a lack of training and awareness about e-procurement practices. The dissertation offers several recommendations to enhance the effectiveness of e-procurement in Mogadishu. These include the development of comprehensive training programs, the establishment of clear policies and procedures for e-procurement, and the need for strategic planning to overcome technological and organizational barriers. By providing a detailed analysis of the impact of e-procurement on organizational performance, this research contributes valuable insights into the adoption of modern procurement technologies in developing countries. It serves as a resource for policymakers, business leaders, and academics interested in enhancing procurement practices through technology.
