This study assessed a community-based AI-enabled chest X-ray screening programme that integrated tuberculosis (TB) detection with screening for cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) and chronic respiratory diseases (CRDs) in rural Nigeria. Between 2023 and 2024, 9,585 individuals were screened across five Local Government Areas in Ebonyi and Nasarawa States. The programme successfully identified and linked most diagnosed TB patients to treatment, demonstrating the feasibility of AI-supported community TB case finding. In addition, a large number of non-TB cardiopulmonary abnormalities were detected, but referral completion for further CVD and CRD evaluation was low. The findings highlight the potential of integrated AI-enabled screening to address multiple health conditions simultaneously while underscoring the need to strengthen primary healthcare services and referral systems for non-communicable diseases in rural settings.
