Developed through extensive consultations with government agencies, private-sector stakeholders, academia, civil society, international partners, and local communities, the strategy reflects a participatory approach that aligns with Kenya’s national values and development goals while embracing diverse perspectives. At the core of this strategy is Kenya’s aspiration to adopt AI technologies and lead in AI model innovation, R&D and commercialisation, creating solutions tailored to its unique needs and those of the African continent. The objectives include establishing a robust governance framework for AI; enhancing adoption in key sectors such as agriculture, security, healthcare, education, and public service delivery; and fostering the growth of local AI ecosystems. Additionally, the strategy prioritises inclusivity to ensure underserved communities are not left behind and aims to position Kenya as the preferred regional hub for AI research, model development, and scalable innovation.
