VogThis file is the current Diet Quality Questionnaire (DQQ) adapted for Kenya and translated into relevant languages. The DQQ is a 5-min survey module to assess diet quality at population level among adolescents and adults, designed for integration into existing multi-topic surveys.
It is validated for data collection for SDG 2.2.4 (MDD-W) and related indicators. It was adapted with the input of key informants following the methods published by Herforth et al., 2025, and the FAO Minimum Dietary Diversity for Women updated guide to measurement, 2021.
This version has additionally been vetted by the survey teams for the 2021 Gallup World Poll and the 2022 Kenya Demographic and Health Survey; and by participants in the Stakeholder Workshop on Monitoring Food Systems for Healthy and Sustainable Diets in Kenya, held May 20-21, 2024 in Machakos, Kenya, hosted by the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN).
Calculation of MDD-W and the other diet quality indicators is automated using data upload or scripts at: dietquality.org For surveys of infants and young children aged 6-23 months: Kenya Diet Quality Questionnaire for Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF DQQ)
