This metadata refers to the Land Cover Change vector data generated over Virunga (Africa) in the framework of the High Resolution Hot Spot Monitoring Phase 2 contract under the coordination of JRC.. This area of interest is either mapped with the detailed modular legend. The mapped area of interest (AOI) represents a Key Landscape for Conservation and Development area (KLCD). The KLCD has a total size of about 4 million ha (40,000 km²) and is situated at the border between the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Uganda and Rwanda. The main national park is represented by the Virunga National Park, with a total area of 7768.93 km². Several parks in Rwanda and Uganda are adjacent and connected to Virunga Reference time: 2019 - 2024
