Naïm-Sanbar Samia - Explicit performatives and the "present" of allocution, Yemeni speech. The mapping of the essentially pragmatic function of performative utterances onto the linguistic plane is studied in reference to the functioning of some explicite performatives in Yemeni Arabic (Saana). The study reveals connections between the temporal dimension of an utterance, the role of the speaker (as governed by verbal semantics) and the presence of an addressee. It shows that, in Yemeni Arabic, there are linguistic criteria that enable us to sort out performative utterances from constative utterances.
