This is a preregistration for a study mapping the geographical locations and distribution of abattoirs in Nigeria. Abattoirs in Nigeria are managed by local government councils, hence, a central database does not exist. This study will adapt the scoping review methodology alongside a survey to track and document all existing abattoirs in Nigeria. This is important for effective disease surveillance, regulatory oversight and infrastructural reforms.
