Maputaland conservation planning system dataset

The Maputaland conservation planning system was used to identify priority areas for conservation in the Maputaland centre of endemism, which covers parts of Eswatini, Mozambique and South Africa. The planning system was developed as part of a project that ran from 2018 to 2022. The system uses the CLUZ plugin for QGIS cluz-systematic-conservatio… and the Marxan with Zones spatial prioritisation software. The dataset is found within Maputaland_MWZ.zip. To use the data, unzip it and link to the relevant files in CLUZ by creating a CLUZ setup file (see the CLUZ website for instructions on how to create a setup file). The Maputaland Conservation Planning System was developed by the Eswatini National Trust Commission, Administração Nacional das Áreas de Conservação, Ezemvelo KwaZulu-Natal Wildlife, the University of Eswatini, Universidade Eduardo Mondlane and DICE at the University of Kent. All Out Africa, Izele CIC and KUWUKA JDA also played a key role, together with technical experts from a number of different organisations. The work was funded by the UK Government through the Darwin Initiative (Project #25-003), the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, and the University of Kent.
