Abstract
This research centres on the influence of media and computer literacy on users' attitudes towards digital library services in public universities in Akwa Ibom State. Two specific objectives, two corresponding research questions, and two null hypotheses were formulated to guide the study. A descriptive survey research design was employed, with a population of 4930 registered library users from Akwa Ibom State University and the University of Uyo. The cluster sampling technique was used to select 354 library users from the area of study. Data was collected using a researcher-structured questionnaire. Mean scores were used to analyse the obtained data. Findings revealed that media literacy positively influences users' attitudes toward digital library services due to their ability to evaluate and use digital media efficiently. The study also revealed a strong positive influence of computer literacy on users' attitudes toward digital library services, which was due to computer literacy, thus resulting in their ability to use digital library services efficiently. It was therefore recommended, among others, that public university library management should improve digital library infrastructure by organising media and computer literacy training in order to boost users' positive attitudes toward digital library services.
