Minister meets Makers Dialogue Report

The African European Maker Innovation Ecosystem (mAkE) project aims to strengthen networks of makerspaces as key drivers of local digital innovation in Africa and establish sustainable connections with European digital innovation hubs (DIHs). mAkE enables makerspaces to amplify their voices and advocate for improved innovation policies. The Fab City Foundation and the Africa Makerspace Network led the development and dissemination of the common policy agenda through mAkE, which is covered in this report.

We facilitated dialogues with policy makers at various levels and shared the common policy agenda at major national and international gatherings in Africa and Europe. By leveraging the experience and partnerships of mAkE project partners, we engaged intermediary organizations, local governments, and relevant NGOs to support policy research and dissemination efforts. In 2023, we engaged over 60 African and European makers and presented at over 10 events in 2024. This report outlines the approaches and outcomes of our activities.
