Mobile Health Information System Impact Evaluation on Antenatal Care Utilization in Zimbabwe: Year Three

The mobile health information system (MHIS) has been implemented in antenatal care (ANC) services across Zimbabwe to enhance maternal and child health outcomes. The study used a mixed-methods approach including surveys and focus group discussions among pregnant women and healthcare providers in selected districts. Data were analysed using descriptive statistics and chi-squared tests to assess changes in ANC utilization rates compared to baseline data from Year One. ANC attendance increased by an average of 15% (95% CI: 8%, 23%) among women who received MHIS-supported services, indicating a positive trend towards improved maternal health outcomes. The MHIS significantly enhanced ANC utilization rates in the study area, particularly among underserved populations. These findings support further expansion of MHIS to broader regions. Continued support for MHIS implementation and evaluation is recommended to ensure sustained improvements in ANC care quality and outcomes.
