Description

This dataset contains anonymized individual-level data supporting the study:

“Integrated One Health determinants of clinically assessed cutaneous leishmaniasis in Sodo District, Ethiopia: a community-based cross-sectional study.”

The study evaluated structural, environmental, behavioral, and reservoir-related determinants of cutaneous leishmaniasis (CL) within a multidomain One Health framework in six kebeles of Sodo District, Ethiopia.

Dataset contents

This repository includes:

  • CL_public_analysis_dataset_anonymized.csv
    Individual-level anonymized dataset used for statistical analysis (N = 1,356 participants).

  • CL_public_analysis_codebook_anonymized.csv
    Data dictionary describing variable names, coding schemes, and conceptual classification within domain categories.

Data structure

The dataset includes:

  • Outcome variable: clinically assessed cutaneous leishmaniasis (presence of active lesion or characteristic scar)

  • Demographic variables (age category, sex, education level, occupation, marital status)

  • Household/structural variables

  • Environmental/ecological variables

  • Behavioral variables

  • Reservoir/animal-interface variables

  • Domain-level risk scores used in the integrated bridge model

Anonymization

The dataset has been fully anonymized prior to public deposition. No direct identifiers (names, household identifiers, GPS coordinates, or contact information) are included. Indirect identifiers that could reasonably permit re-identification have been removed or recoded in accordance with ethical approval and applicable data protection standards.

Ethical approval

Data collection was approved by the University of South Africa Research Ethics Committee and relevant regional authorities in Ethiopia. Public sharing of anonymized data does not compromise participant confidentiality.

Usage

The dataset is made available for non-commercial scientific research purposes. Users are encouraged to cite both this dataset and the associated publication when using the data.
