Multilevel Regression Analysis for Evaluating Power-Distribution Equipment Systems in Nigerian Infrastructure Systems: A Methodological Assessment

Power distribution equipment systems in Nigerian infrastructure are critical but often underperform due to various factors including maintenance inefficiencies and system complexity. A multilevel regression model was employed to analyse data from multiple infrastructure projects in Nigeria. The model accounts for both individual and project-level effects to assess overall system reliability. The multilevel regression analysis revealed that the number of maintenance personnel per unit area had a significant positive impact on system reliability, indicating improved performance with higher staffing levels. This study provides robust evidence on how infrastructure management can improve power-distribution equipment systems in Nigeria by optimising resource allocation and personnel deployment. Infrastructure managers should prioritise increasing the ratio of maintenance staff to ensure better system reliability, thereby enhancing overall service quality and reducing downtime. The maintenance outcome was modelled as $Y_{it}=\beta_0+\beta_1X_{it}+u_i+\varepsilon_{it}$, with robustness checked using heteroskedasticity-consistent errors.
