The collection of insects of the MNCN (Madrid, Spain) constitutes the most valuable scientific section in this Museum. It holds about 4,000,000 specimens from almost all over the world, being its main strength the Iberian Peninsula, Canary Islands, Morocco and Equatorial Guinea. It keeps some 25,000 type specimens, representing some 6,100 taxa. Strong points are Orthoptera (s.l.), Coleoptera and Hymenoptera.Iberian Orthopteroids, some Coleoptera and Hymenoptera are accessible online Note: this dataset was previously orphaned.
