A formative composite measure of youth wellbeing for South Africa, built from open Afrobarometer Round 9 (2022) survey data for young people aged 18 to 35. The index produces a national score, five domain scores (education and skills, economic participation, health and wellbeing, civic and community engagement, and safety and environment), and provincial estimates, with robustness and validation checks specified in advance. The methodology was pre-registered before analysis. This deposit contains the research report, the Python analysis pipeline that reproduces every reported figure, the national, provincial and indicator result tables, and the three summary figures. The Afrobarometer data file is not redistributed; it is available from the Afrobarometer data portal under its own terms. See the README for full reproduction instructions.
