Open Science Enabled Open Educational Resources - Case Studies from Africa

This presentation was prepared for and presented virtually at the SciLifeLab Data Management Seminar Series on 10 June 2025, during a session titled "Global impact of sharing Open Educational Materials: Examples from Sweden and Africa." The presentation describes three case studies of open educational resources that were developed: afrimapr - a project that was funded by the Wellcome Trust and aimed to develop R building blocks to make mapping African data easier Enabling Open Science through Research Code - a six-episode community meetup series that was run as a collaboration between RSSE Africa and the RSE Asia association and others to create more awareness of various aspects of best practices for research software development Open Science for the OMICS Community - a three-part workshop series that was developed by Talarify for DIPLOMICS to introduce wet lab and computational OMICS researchers to open science principles, practices and resources. SciLifeLab Data Management seminar series is an event series by the SciLifeLab Data Centre and the NBIS joint Data Management team. The goal of the events in this seminar series is to provide interesting interactive seminars around topics related to Research Data Management and Open Science in general, and to foster discussions around best practices.
