OpenStreetMap Civic Amenities, Lagos-Nairobi-Addis Ababa, 2026-09

Node and way counts for three civic amenity types in Lagos, Nairobi, and Addis Ababa, counted from OpenStreetMap on 2026-09-10. amenity=drinking_water: 60 features in Lagos, 2,174 in Nairobi, 5 in Addis Ababa; amenity=public_bookcase: 0, 0, 0; amenity=bicycle_repair_station: 0, 1, 0. That is 2,240 features across 9 city-amenity pairs. City areas are official OSM relations resolved through Nominatim: Lagos State (R3718182, area 3603718182), Nairobi County (R3492709, area 3603492709), Addis Ababa city administration (R1707699, area 3601707699). Counts come from Overpass API queries of the form node["amenity"="drinking_water"](area.a); way["amenity"="drinking_water"](area.a); out count; run against the maps.mail.ru mirror (base snapshot 2026-09-08T19:24:39Z) and cross-checked on kumi.systems: 8 of 9 counts identical, and the one difference (Nairobi drinking_water 2,174 vs 2,173) reflects one edit between the two mirror bases. Lagos's 60 drinking water points are mostly one branded Clean Water tap cluster. Nairobi's 2,174 fountains are the largest single-city count in this dataset series (ahead of Tokyo's 2,163), mostly unnamed water points in Kibera, plus one bicycle repair stand (gitonga bicycle services, node 12243521973). The public_bookcase count of 0 in all three cities is a real query result: nobody has mapped a public bookcase inside these three boundaries yet.
