This study investigated the perception and usage of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in enhancing text-to-speech(TTS) and language translation in Nigerian broadcasting, with a focus on Edo Broadcasting Service (EBS)and Independent Television (ITV), Benin City. Anchored on the Diffusion of Innovations Theory andTechnological Determinism Theory, the study adopted a descriptive survey research design. Data werecollected from a stratified random sample of 152 respondents drawn from editorial, technical, production, information technology, and language departments using structured questionnaires. Descriptive statistics, specifically frequencies and percentages, were employed to analyze the data. The study sought to assessbroadcasters’ awareness and perception of AI-based text-to-speech and language translation technologies, examine the extent of AI utilization for voice synthesis and multilingual communication, and identify thechallenges associated with implementing AI-driven broadcasting technologies. The findings revealed thatawareness of AI-based text-to-speech and language translation technologies among broadcast professionalswas moderate to high, with respondents expressing generally positive perceptions regarding their useful-ness. However, the level of adoption remained moderate because implementation is still at an early stageacross most departments. Major barriers identified include inadequate technical expertise, insufficient train-ing opportunities, high implementation costs, infrastructural limitations, and resistance to technologicalchange. The study concludes that Artificial Intelligence has significant potential to transform broadcastingthrough improved voice synthesis and multilingual communication. It recommends continuous capacity-building programmes, increased investment in broadcasting infrastructure, stronger managerial support, and strategic policies to facilitate the effective adoption and utilization of AI-driven text-to-speech andlanguage translation technologies in Nigerian broadcast media.
